Today's EoTD and Estee Lauder mascara review

I had to wake up super early today. I had a mandatory math exercise class this morning, and I knew I was coming home right after that ended. It was really cold, and I was really tired, but I still did my makeup. I did a very simple look, I wasn't even going to use any shadows, but I ended up using two from my NYX Rock'n'roll-trio.

Review of the mascara I used is in the end of this post.

I just applied foundation, eyebrow pencil and Estee Lauder lengthening mascara.

Then I decided to add some brown from the NYX Rock'n'roll trio to my crease. I used a tapered blending brush for that. Then I used a pencil brush and applied the gray color from the NYX trio to the lash line, and blended the line up the lid, I didn't want anything sharp.

Review:
Estee Lauder Double Wear Zero-Smudge Lengthening Mascara.

I tend to dislike mascaras during the first few days after opening it. That did not happen with this mascara.

I felt like this lengthened my lashes after a few coats. My boyfriend noticed it too.

I did not get clumpy lashes when I combed through them after each coat. Even if I did not do that I did not get clumps that easily.

I feel like this does not shed. My eyes don't water very easily, so I don't know how this would work if your eyes water.

I really like the size and shape of the wand. When I apply mascara on my lower lashes I always hold the wand vertically and use the tip to apply mascara. It works great.

This is rather easy to remove with eyemakeup remover. If I remove my makeup in the shower, the water causes the mascara to fall off in small pieces. It doesn't turn into black liquid like some mascaras.

Overall I think this is a good basic mascara.

I got mine in a set with an eyecream and a eyemakeup remover. That set cost something like 24 euros or so, I don't know how much this costs on its own. The sticker on the bottom says the color, and that covers the text which says how much product there is. I think it says 0.22 fl oz, but I am not sure.

Saturday EoTD

I did a colorful look for Saturday of last week. I didn't have anything special going on that day, except putting together our new office space! Yay, it's finally nearly finished. We still have some random small items on the floor trying to find their place...

I think I used an Artdeco blush 24. I don't know the name.

I used Glamour Doll Eyes shadows Miami and Schizophrenic on the lid. Miami on the inner half, and Schizophrenic on the outer half.

I lined my eyes with MAC's Blacktrack fluidline. I had given my boyfriend a list of MAC items I asked him to bring me from Germany. This was one of the items. Okay, there were just two items on that list, and he just gave the note to the sales person. I said that if he sees a MAC store/counter he could go them for me, but not to worry if he doesn't find them. The second item was the paint pot in Painterly.

I took a purple pencil liner by Lumene and lined my lower lash line.

I used Maybelline's One by One mascara in black.

EoTD - September 6 2011

What I am wearing today.

Something very simple.

Just did my eyebrows, put some purple pencil eyeliner by Lumene, added some black eyeliner to the outer parts because plain purple would look too odd.. The black adds volume to my lashes. ;)

I used Maybelline's One by One mascara in black.

And a picture of both eyes.

Quick everyday look.

I've been quite boring lately with my makeup.

But I think I have found the easy, everyday makeup, that always looks good and good for me. (And I've gotten compliments on it from a couple boys! Girls haven't said anything.)

This picture is not exactly how I've done the makeup during the past week or so. This version is a little modified.

I use MAC Bare Study paint pot on the whole lid. I put Artdeco's iridescent duochrome eyeshadow 203 - silica glass is it's name. It's one of the new Fashion Colors Fall/Winter 2010/2011. (The other iridescent duochrome for this collection is the 205 lucent ferrite. The new pearl shadows are 84 pearly lavender blossom and 80 pearly midnight blue)

So only MAC's Bare Study and Artdeco's 203 on the lid. I don't really do any blending separately, or add a highlight or a different, darker color in the crease. I just want the one shadow on the lid and a little in the crease.

Then I use Ben Nye's cake eyeliner in black and do a strong winged line. Sometimes more than show in the picture, sometimes less.

Then I fix my brows and add mascara. And that's it for the eyes. The mineral powder foundation, a little bronzer and blush. Ta-dah. Done. Fast and simple.

In the pictures on this post I've modified this look a little. I've added GDE Premonition to the lower lash line and the crease. When I just need to do my makeup quickly then I leave this part out.

What do you think?

Very simple look.

Hey everyone!

Today's eye of the day is a very simple look. Not a very natural look as you can see.

My everyday makeup tends to be a whole lot darker than the average girl's. Probably what I wear during the day is what majority of people who are not as crazy about makeup as I am, wear on a night out if even then, you know what I mean right?

I used MAC's Bare Study on the whole lid.

Skinny Jeans by GDE on the whole lid. Then dark matte brown in the crease. Black eyeliner and mascara to finish the look with.

It was a fun day at the chemistry lab today. I took these pictures after I came home. So this is what my makeup looks 5 hours after applying it. I don't ever touch up my makeup (with the exception of lip stuff) during the day.

Glamour Doll Eyes products can be bought from here.

What's your routine with touch ups? Do you do it, or just let your makeup be?

A mix of all things...

In July I spent 3 weeks in Brighton, UK. I flew there without any shampoo or hair conditioner so that was the first thing on my shopping list. I was planning on leaving these there behind me, but I couldn't resist taking them back home cause they were so lovely!

Anything even minutely flavored with citrus scents gets me every time. I love citrus scents!

I got the Alberto Balsam shampoo and hair conditioner for normal/dry hair. It was mandarin flavored (and papaya).

These are 400ml bottles, so quite big, but they were a little cheaper compared to prices over here I think. Can't remember the exact price though. :( I got these from Superdrug.

Here's where it gets interesting! I always remember complaining on how I run out of shampoo long before hair conditioner... After using these products for about 5 weeks (left these home when I went on my central europe trip) I've used a whole lot more of hair conditioner than shampoo! Okay, in England I didn't have any shower gel with me, so when I shaved my legs I used hair conditioner instead of shower gel, but I didn't use it that much.

I drew the lines in the picture above to really show the difference!

My hair smells so, so nice and it's really soft too! I only shampoo the roots and put hair conditioner only in the ends, or well I make a ponytail with my hands and then put the hair conditioner to that part of hair.

This is yesterday's eye of the day...

Amazing quality makeup I must say! I went to football (soccer) practice yesterday with this on cause I didn't feel like removing my makeup before, and everything stayed in place. Nothing moved. I've practiced and competed with makeup on, and this brand still keeps wowing me after all these years. Let me say that our practices aren't exactly light, you sweat a whole lot, and still makeup stayed on perfectly. :D

What's your favorite brand of hair care?

May 12th - EOTD

Just a quick post before I'm going to my friends house to watch a game.

This is what I had on today. My obsession, GDE shadows. ;)

Electric Lemonade, inner half. Shaded Orchid outer half.

Fast, simple and pretty.

These pictures I took after a rather lond day in school. I usually take the pictures right after I'm done with doing my makeup but today I thought I'd show you how my makeup looks in the end of the day.

Concert night

Hey everyone!

I'm so happy none of my followers have disappeared during my little break and I've gotten a few more. Thank you for staying with me! I honestly don't know what happened. I didn't wear much makeup to begin with during this time and when I did it wasn't anything special, just a plain quick look, so I didn't feel like posting it to this blog. Though now looking at the poll I guess that is something you would like to see since 'eye of the day' option was the most popular one. Tutorials coming second. So that is what you will get.

I am sure most of use have had those days when you just don't want to do your makeup or just felt like staying in bed the whole day. Unfortunately I have classes to attend so I couldn't do that during the week, so I stayed in bed for most of the weekend. I guess this is the spring depression that's getting to me. I know that during the fall there is a lot of talk of fall depression, or winter depression, but I just don't like hot weather that much and for the summer I should have found a job, which causes more stress cause I haven't found a job yet so... Yeah.

But now back to the look I did yesterday when my friend and I went to a concert. I can't remember when we saw that band last time. But it was great. And I want to see them again in the summer when they're playing in this city again. A lot has happened in 6 years when they became famous. The crowd is not just 15-year old emo girls anymore, there are actually grown ups and men too! The lead singer doesn't look as much of a girl anymore, he's gotten manlier. Last night was great too because 5-6 years ago I didn't wear contacts and I didn't wear glasses at the gigs cause I felt I looked stupid, so I didn't really see much, but yesterday I did wear contacts and I saw so much!!! Even from the drinking area I saw facial expressions and guitar strings!!! I'm so happy about that.

I realize that might sound weird.

Oh well, we managed to get 2 roses each because the band threw buckets full of roses to the crowd.

But now to the look.

Created by these new shadows the I recently bought.

And here are the swatches

On the Lumene eyeshadow primer.

I applied NYX Jumbo eyeshadow pencil in Milk after the eyeshadow primer on my lids. Then some shimmery golden beige to the inner third. Perfect Lagoon on the rest lid and crease. Then Perfect Iris to the crease and outer corner.

I don't think these shadows work very well without a primer. They work best with a primer + something like NYX's Milk.

And some more pictures!

No creasing. Eyeliner is by Ben Nye. Stayed put the whole night. Though I felt like I should've put some black. This isn't necessarily an evening look, for me.

What do you think? Does it look very much like a rock concert-look? Maybe not so much... Or?

GOSH Eyeliner pencils

I don't have many Gosh products. The only things I have are Eyeliner pencils. And my, oh my, they are great! Their staying power is probably a little too much even. :D

And when I say they're too good I really mean it. I have a face wash that I wash my face with everyday. I never had to use a makeup remover to remove my makeup. But I have no choice but to do that with the Gosh pencils. Sometimes you really do need an eyeliner pencil that really sticks.

The eyeliner in these pictures is Pretty Petrol. It says Velvet Touch Eye Liner - Waterproof

Today's eye of the day is nothing too special. A light lid with a medium shimmery brown crease. Blue eyeliner as a special effect. I was in a little bit of a hurry this morning and I only had two exams today and no classes. My quick makeup is always something like this, a neutral eye basically. The eyeliner color just changes. ;)

What's your view on Gosh products?

Fire

I felt fierce this morning. This is why.

Glamour Doll Eyes shadows in Lovers Lane (red, outer half of the lid) and then Bare Naked (gold) in the inner corner (top and bottom). A matte medium brown in the outmost corner, crease and lower lash line.

Makeup Store Gel eyeliner in Black. And black mascara.

Look what I have... :D

Hmph. that one thing is a little off... :D haha

I walk daily on campus and of course look at people and their makeup. Sometimes I think how my everyday makeup is someone's evening look or like a fancy party look. My party look consists of more mascara, more eyeliner, false lashes. I guess now is a good time to say I don't party that often. :D

What is your party look?

DinoSpotz

In this look I used some Glamour Doll eyeshadows that I bought recently.

I used Katie's Storm and DinoSpotz. And I used Bare Naked as a highlight/blending helper.

First to the inner quarter or so I put some Katie's Storm. The the rest of the lid and crease I put DinoSpotz which by far is one of my favorites! I used a matte white cream base under the eyeshadows.

I used Bare Naked to help blend DinoSpotz and also sort of as a highlight shadow.

I used the same eyeshadows to line the lower lash line. I used a black liquid liner to line my top lid. Maybelline's Volum Express in black as a mascara.

DinoSpotz is so amazing! It's like a burgundy/brick red/brown with some green glitter. Depending on the direction where the light hits your eyelid the eyeshadow changes.

Have you heard of Glamour Doll Eyeshadows before?
Enjoy your Thursday!

Fire and Stars

I'm not really sure, but for some reason I have wanted to use eye shadows that are not necessarily the colors you would first pair up together.

I got the idea yesterday when I did my makeup for our little Christmas Party when I used green and red eye shadows. I didn't really believe they would work together, but tried them anyways and really they did work together quite well. Clearly brown and black aren't the only colors to be used when intensifying the look. Unfortunately I did not take pictures of that look.

I used a hot pink eye shadow on the lid (made it a little less hot with some burgundy eye shadow) and a little of electric blue in the outer corner and crease. I darkened the electric blue with a midnight blue.

I used an offwhite highlight and a blue eye liner and some black mascara. More of like a lengthening mascara than a volumizing one.

Some midnight blue on the lower lash line and the lower water line is also lined with the blue eye liner pencil, although it cannot be seen on the water line anymore... this eye liner stays on for a long time, even on the water line, but not forever. Pictures were taken about 6 hours after applying..

These colors, pink&blue, are not the first combination I think of when deciding what eyeshadows I will use.

Thoughts?
