Christmas Eve

I tested this look on Friday, the day before Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve I used a different base. These pictures are from the day before Christmas Eve.



We celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day is nothing special. All the good food, presents and stuff happens on Christmas Eve. We just eat leftovers on Christmas Day.

I used NYX's jumbo pencil in Pots & Pans as a base on the lid.

I then applied Inglot's shadow pearl 419 on the lid on top of Pots & Pans. 



Then I used a shimmery golden beige and light brown in the crease to blend and in the outer corner.

The look.

On Christmas Eve I used MAC's Bare Study instead of Pots & Pans, but shadows were the same.

I am having some issues with my Inglot palette. That is also why there aren't many (if any) looks with the palette. I just don't grab for the palette. I have had it for 2,5 months now.

Today's EoTD and Estee Lauder mascara review

I had to wake up super early today. I had a mandatory math exercise class this morning, and I knew I was coming home right after that ended. It was really cold, and I was really tired, but I still did my makeup. I did a very simple look, I wasn't even going to use any shadows, but I ended up using two from my NYX Rock'n'roll-trio.

Review of the mascara I used is in the end of this post.

I just applied foundation, eyebrow pencil and Estee Lauder lengthening mascara. 

Then I decided to add some brown from the NYX Rock'n'roll trio to my crease. I used a tapered blending brush for that. Then I used a pencil brush and applied the gray color from the NYX trio to the lash line, and blended the line up the lid, I didn't want anything sharp.

Review:

Estee Lauder Double Wear Zero-Smudge Lengthening Mascara.

I tend to dislike mascaras during the first few days after opening it. That did not happen with this mascara.

I felt like this lengthened my lashes after a few coats. My boyfriend noticed it too. 

I did not get clumpy lashes when I combed through them after each coat. Even if I did not do that I did not get clumps that easily.

I feel like this does not shed. My eyes don't water very easily, so I don't know how this would work if your eyes water. 

I really like the size and shape of the wand. When I apply mascara on my lower lashes I always hold the wand vertically and use the tip to apply mascara. It works great.

This is rather easy to remove with eyemakeup remover. If I remove my makeup in the shower, the water causes the mascara to fall off in small pieces. It doesn't turn into black liquid like some mascaras.

Overall I think this is a good basic mascara. 

I got mine in a set with an eyecream and a eyemakeup remover. That set cost something like 24 euros or so, I don't know how much this costs on its own. The sticker on the bottom says the color, and that covers the text which says how much product there is. I think it says 0.22 fl oz, but I am not sure.

Recreation - oranges and pinks/reds

I saw this post by Phyrra and I told her I'd do something like that on Tuesday, as in today.

I used Jailhouse Jumpsuit by GDE and a matte pinkish red eyeshadow (nr. 545) by Grimas.

To the lower lash line I used GDE Dusk mixed with NYX trio eyeshadow Rock&Roll palettes gray eyeshadow. I guess I could've used a purple like Phyrra or just simply a black, but I wanted to use something else this time.

I lined my eyes with MUS black gel eyeliner.

Also the lower and upper waterlines (or tightline), whatever it is. What is it by the way?

I will fix the lower waterline before I leave... with a pencil eyeliner. So much better for that.

The lowest picture I took in natural light. The rest I took when I was standing by the window, but with a flash and the cuisine-program. The more closer it gets to summer the better the pictures turn out... :D Otherwise I'd with it would be a snowy winter for the whole year!

Requested tutorial - "outgoable" peacock/turquoise/petrol look

A while ago I received a request being an "outgoable" peacock/turquoise/petrol look - requested by Sternchen.

I googled some pictures of peacocks and especially their tails. Using those colors I found some eyeshadows that I had that I could use and this is the look I came up with. I did not plan this really, I just got the eyeshadows out and started placing them on my eyes. Now I'm thinking that I should have planned this a little better, yeah the colors are there, but I'm not necessarily that happy about the way it turned out. If I come up with something else, I'll do a following blogpost later.

But here is the final look.

I used NYX's Jumbo eyeshadow pencils in Milk and in French Fries as a base.

I placed some matte offwhite eyeshadow to the inner corner. Then Glamour Doll Eyes (GDE) shadows in Skinny Jeans and MIngles to the places where are in the picture. I tend to blend in the eyeshadows once I place them on my eye so that I don't have to do it later.

I added some GDE Flashdance! and Olivia Green. Flashdance! on top of MIngles and Skinny Jeans. Olivia green to the crease, outer corner and lower lash line.

I wanted to intensify the outer corner a little by adding a matte medium brown to the corner. I took a light turqoise eyeliner pencil and lined my eyes, top and bottom, with that. I added some black eyeliner pencil to the lashline so that my lashes would look thicker. Only to the outer half though. I lined my upper and lower waterlines with the black eyeliner as well.

I have them swatched when wrote about them the first time, but I don't think I did the swatches right, I didn't even use any primer or base, and Skinny Jeans was one of the ones I wasn't too pleased with but now that I tried it again last week I could not get over how green (and gray) it actually was. I was sure I had used a brush that I previously used with green eyeshadow, but no!

Here are the swatches of Skinny Jeans on NYX's French Fries, Milk and Black bean jumbo eyeshadow pencils. Aye, it's a bit blurry. :S

St. Patrick's Day inspired look

St. Patrick's Day is March 17th. So this Wednesday. St. Patrick's Day is also known as St. Paddy's day. St. Patrick is one of the most recognized patron saints of Ireland.

If you don't wear anything green on St. Patrick's day someone will pinch you.

Where I live St. Patrick's Day is not that known, the only place I know that celebrates on this day is the local Irish Pub. The Pub is turned green, drinks, food etc all will be green.

It seems that my friends and I are going to this pub on Wednesday after our classes. Dressed in green and of course the makeup has to match. Well, mine has to, they don't really care about makeup that much. :D

I'm sure I'm not the only who associates green and orange to Ireland ;) which is why I did this look inspired by Ireland and St. Patrick's Day.

I used NYX's jumbo eyeshadow pencil in Milk (white) as a base.

Then I used Jailhouse Jumpsuit and Olivia Green by Glamour Doll Eyes. Jailhouse Jumpsuit has become one of my favorite Glamour Doll eyeshadows. I didn't think I'd like orange eyeshadow this much. :D So Jailhouse Jumpsuit I placed in the inner corner. Olivia Green to the outer corner and crease.

I took a matte white and a shimmery white eyeshadow and placed it in between the green and orange. Black eyeliner and black mascara.

Tutorial - Recreation of MissChievous' Dark Androgynous look

This look is a recreation of this look. It's by a youtube makeup guru MissChievous.

Final result. Not an everyday makeup look for sure! But great still.


And this is how you do it:

I used NYX jumbo eyeshadow pencil in Black bean as a base. I put some MAC Delft paint pot on top of that. Don't worry, it looks like a mess, but it will end up looking great. :D

Dusk by Glamour Doll in the crease using like a windshield wiper motion, like so.

If you can, add some black base to your lower lash line and some eyeshadow you wish to use in the crease. I'm not using the exact same products as Julia/MissChievous because I don't have them, so you can replase all the products by what you have of course.

Take a soft black liner pencil and put that on your lid, not just a small thin line, but on your entire lid up to the crease. Pat it down with a finger and blend the line a little with the eyeshadow in the crease. Then I put some matte black eyeshadow by Grimas on top of the black liner.

If you feel like you didn't put enough of eyeshadow in the crease feel free to add some. I did.

Line your lower lash line and lower water line with a black pencil liner, add some matte black eyeshadow to set it. I have some Dusk and NYX's Black bean in there as well.

Take a skin colored eyeshadow to clean up and blend the outlines and possible mess you made! I sure did.

Make sure your eyebrows are strong and clean looking. Add a highlight of choice below your brows. I used Grimas' matte offwhite.

Add some mascara to both upper and lower lashes.

Tutorial - Silver sparkles and Valentine's day rant.

I realized I had neglected my blog. I had to correct that and so I made this "tutorial". Why it is only a "tutorial", is because I only remembered to take the pictures in the beginning and when I had put on all the eyeshadows and some eyeliner. Not a very detailed tutorial, if I may say so myself.

I used silvers, blacks and whites. I used silver and black eye liner. And black mascara that is a disappoiment. I will write a separate blogpost about that, I wont even say which one it is that I used in this look. There's so much hype about it, and I have tried it so, so many times, applied it in several different ways, but it really is not good. Take a look at the pictures if you doubt me.

The picture below shows you all the products I used. I used NYX's Jumbo Eye shadow pencils in Black Bean and Pots & Pans. I depenciled them because I don't like them as pencils, it is so much easier to apply them from these pots. I also used Katie's Storm and Graffiti from Glamour Doll Eyes. The round eyeshadows are from NYX 5 color shadow palette from the Caribbean collection. The palette's name is I dream of Barbados.

I first put Pots & Pans on the inner 2/3 of the upper lid and the rest is Black Bean.

(In this picture above, you can actually see my eyebrows when I haven't done anything to them. In the other pictures I have used an eyebrow pencil.)

Katie's Storm (number 3) in the very inner corner, light silver/gray (4), then the darker shimmery soot color (5) in the inner part of the outer half of the lid and the outer V. Graffiti (6) to the outer corner between the darker shimmery soot color eyeshadow.

I put some matte white eyeshadow to the inner corner and a shimmery white eyeshadow as a highlight and to blend in the darker eyeshadows.

I lined the top lid halfway with a silver eyeliner pencil. Then I lined the rest of the lid with a black liner and also put that in the upper and lower waterlines. I lined the lower lash line with Graffiti and Katie's Storm.

Is anyone else feeling suffocated because soooo many people write about makeup looks for Valentine's day?! I'm not a fan of Valentine's day, I have never been. It seems as though every year the Valentine's day stuff can be found in stores in the middle of January or earlier. People seem to go crazy because of one day.

You should enjoy everyday with your loved ones, it shouldn't just be that just on February 14th that you do something special. Make everyday a special day!

My version of Pink *Ice Princess*

This look is my version of Julieg713's Pink *Ice Princess* Makeup-look

edit few minutes later: (And now I realized why this look looked so familiar, it's because I already did a look using very similar colors, only the eye liner is different.)

I don't own a single matte pink eyeshadow (I think) so this is a shimmery version without fake lashes.

The only same makeup product was the NYX Jumbo eyeshadow pencil in Milk which I bought recently with the other NYX stuff. So check out Julieg713's video for the tutorial and how the look is achieved.

I have a couple eyeshadows that I find are quite difficult to use on a skintone base, the colors just don't show up as well as I'd like. So I tried them on NYX jumbo pen in Black Bean and they're a whole lot better! Didn't look as good on Milk as they did on Black bean.
