Imbalances

I've been a little overwhelmed with myself lately. Or I should say, with us.

I can see that perhaps you're having some dissatisfaction towards me, but I am really wondering what's wrong between us. I tried to figure out all the possibilities that I had ever done anything that makes you grumpy but I couldn't. I even tried to understand that maybe you're just having your PMS, but I don't think that PMS will last for so long right? FYI, I can't be held responsible for your PMS and also your mood swings, I am not the one who should. Sometimes we can have great conversation about school, friends, food and fashion with each other. However for the last whole week you have been showing a DON'T-MESS-WITH-ME face and when I tried to make conversation with you, I had been given a cold shoulder. This isn't the first time. Eventually I figured out you're just displeased with me over some trivial misunderstanding. This time I don't wish to make wild guess anymore. I wish you would come to the point or you could just confront me anytime. At least I could know the reason and stop feeling so suffocated whenever you're around. I bet you're not feeling ease too.

Frankly speaking, sometime your unintentional attitude would make me feel like :"Is it that I had done something that made her angry?" Building a friendship isn't an easy matter. My mum always reminds me that one should be broad-minded and tolerant. I am not saying that I am the easiest person to be friend with, but if we want our friendship last, we should learn how to give-and-take by forgiving and forgeting every grudges right? You're such a sweet friend if you can try to work on your temperamental attitude. (Another frank words, too!)

No offense with this post. I just want to make things clear.
If I have really done or said anything wrong, I'm sorry and I didn't mean it.

Holiday Mood

Whoa, time flies! The first month of 2011 will be going to end soon.
For me, February will be an awesome month. Why?
Because it will be the CNY month
Because it will be the Valentine's month
Because it will be the babe Elaine's birthday month :D

I will be having my final exam soon but all I have is the CNY holiday mood. Hundreds of pages and tons of chapters to study and revise, but the study progress = 0%. CNY clothes are bought and hairdo is done :) Please tell me that my little makeover looks nice/ pretty/ cute/ awesome, or else that I'm gonna be very :( :( :( LOL

Tried to make my hair colour darker. (I think it is darker now?) I don't want any blonde hair colour anymore.

Too bad my new fringe still looks very unnatural :(

Hopefully it will grow faster and look more suitable to my face shape later.

BTW, have you watched any Chinese New Year's films? I love CNY films because they often bring merry and joyous atmosphere to the audience. I feel happy and earnestly looking forward to CNY after watching them :) I had watched both the CNY films, that were "Great Day" (天天好天) and "Homecoming" (笑着回家). In my view, I would strongly recommend everyone to watch Great Day. This movie emphasizes the family values throughout the storyline. This movie is suitable for the old and young, especially for the parents who wish to teach and explain the most important life lesson - filiality to their kids. Settle in cinema for this movie and you'll find yourself actually spend a meaningful two hours ;)

A shiny day or a rainy day, every single day is actually a great day :)

I love every moment with the Ah Fook (Jack Lim) family. Most of the time, their family brought hilarious and amusing scenes in this film. Meanwhile, you could also feel the strong relationship and heartfelt sincerity between the family members.

Tears just wouldn't stop flowing during the scenes of Joey and her grandpa. At the beginning of the movie, Joey couldn't accept her grandpa's arrival and behaviour. However, their feelings for each other grew with the time they had thrown together. The little girl couldn't bear to part with her grandpa and eventually leave her house at the capital city alone to find her grandpa at the paddy land.

From my point of view, this movie is a worthy film that you should watch at the cinema.
As Malaysians, we should support our own local film production too! :D

Also, the theme song of this movie "彩虹的家" is also genuinely touching like the film. The OS in the song reminds me with every tear-jerker scenes of this film. I couldn't stop repeating this song in my playlist now :)

Lastly, I have also decided the Valentine gift for him. OH YAY >3
p.s. I'm looking forward for the pressie from him too! ;P

Avon - Planet Spa review Part 1and EotD

My friend is an Avon sales representative person and about 2 (or 3) months ago I ordered some stuff from Avon. I got a face mask, the Planet Spa Mediterranean Olive Oil hydrating face mask (and two eye liners).

I'm horrible with facial scrubs and masks. I never remember to use them regularly. I keep up with a routine of using a face scrub and a mask once a week for about 2 weeks and then I forget about it. Months go by and then I start again, put on a mask once and then there's a months time when nothing happens. I just haven't gotten used to using scrubs and masks. I've never felt like I'd need to use them often, but I've also never used them often to notice a significant difference to the times I haven't been using them.

So without a further ado, let's start with the review Part 1. Part 1 is my first thoughts about the product, packaging, smell, products consistency and whatever I can think of at this point when I haven't used the product many times for a long time.

I've used this mask about 3-4 times now at very random times.

The package is a nice tube. I got nothing bad to say about it. 75 ml of product.

Product smells nice. Very fresh. It isn't very thick in a sense that it would be difficult to spread on my face.

When I've spread the mask on my face it doesn't itch or anything. It doens't fully dry in the 20 minutes that I have the mask on my face before rinsing it off. It doesn't dry, but it isn't terribly wet either.

I'm going to go through the first ingredients individually. I'll add some comments from the rest of the ingredients then if I see something worth mentioning. Ingredients are listed according to their concentration in the product, and the first 10 or so are the meaningful ones.

Ingredients: Aqua, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Glyceryl Stearate, Triethanolamine, Zea Mays Starch, Carbomer, PEG-20 Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate, Disodium EDTA, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Methylparaben, Parfum, Benzophenone-4, Dimethicone, Panthenol, Olea Europaea Oil, Olea Europaea Leaf Extract, Phosphoric Acid, Alcohol Denat. Lecithin, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Retinyl Palmitate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Beta-Carotene, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, Tocopherol, CI 19140, CI 15510, CI 42090, <1006617-001>

Aqua - water

Glycerin - probably more commonly known as glycerol, present in natural lipids. It is hydroscopic, meaning it is absorbs water very well, and "glycerin works because of its ability to attract water from the environment and from the lower layers of skin (dermis) increasing the amount of water in the surface layers of skin." [1]

Glyceryl Stearate is an emulsifier, thickening agent

Triethanolamine is a pH balancer. Skin is doing well if it's pH is good and the products are have similar pH values.

Zea Mays Starch - could not find it from the Cosmetic Ingredient Dictionary. (see link at the bottom of this post)

Carbomer - thickening agent

PEG-20 Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate - can be used for many things, emulsifier or surfactant

Disodium EDTA - referred to only EDTA. It's a stabilizer, prevents particles from binding with others and other elements and so preventing "unwanted product changes to the texture, the odor, and the consistency." [2]

Imidiazolidinyl Urea - preservative

Hydroxyethylcellulose - thickening agent, usually used as a binding agent or an emulsifier

Methylparaben - parabens are preservatives. More about parabens here. There is a lot of knowledge about parabens available in this world, however, there is also a lot of unanswered questions about them.

All information about ingredients is from Cosmetic Ingredient Dictionary.  Where text is copied directly, there is a [x] with a link to that article.

Today's EotD. My boyfriend and I went to play squash this morning. I ha.d to do my makeup in the car on the way from there to university and this is how it turned out. I decided to play it safe with the colors. They're  from the Wet&Wild Vanity Vanite palette. I'm using Avon's eyeliner in something Teal. The makeup is in my boyfriends car at the moment, so I can't tell you the exact name of it, but I'll edit this later.

Cleansing Wipes by Simple

I never really understood cleaning wipes. Not with makeup, and not with babies either. I just don't get it. Not in daily use anyway...

I have tried two types of wipes before, they failed me. They weren't up to my expectations, which were, that they'd remove my makeup. They just spread it over my face. Now I tried the wipes by Simple.

These say they remove waterproof mascara. I don't use waterproof mascara. They did not remove nonwaterproof mascara hardly at all.  Not easily anyway. You have to press and scrub your face with these if you want your makeup off.

I can't remember what these cost. They were something along the lines of 4-6 euros. There's 25 of them.

I would not use these if I had even a tiny bit of water available. I wont buy facial wipes anymore cause they just aren't enough. They don't remove makeup! Which is the reason why I'd use them.

I just don't understand facial wipes. Why are they used? Daily? When there is water available that you could use a makeup remover gel/milk/foam/whatever instead?

Orly Cosmix FX - Lunar Eclipse

This is a gorgeous color!

Such a nice blue!

Your thoughts?

Not for daily use.

I posted a preview of this a couple weeks ago, saying I'd post the whole tutorial the following weekend. Yeah, I didn't. Sorry about that! I used the Manly 120 palette in this, and NYX's jumbo eyeshadow pencils.

Tutorial

First I applied a primer and then as a base I used NYX's jumbo eyeshadow pencils in Lemon and Purple.

I took a picture of my Manly and numbered them for personal use. Now I will use the same numbers here, I'll post a picture of the whole Manly so that you can see what colors I used. The numbers are explained with each picture.

I put 112 and 114 like this:

Then I added a highlight. You can use whatever you like for this. Then I applied a lighter purple, 88, a little over the purple 112, and on the Lemon jumbo pencil.

I took greenish shadows 4 and 10. 4 I placed in the innermost corner, 10 next to it, more on the lid.
I took a blueish purple, 35, and placed that on the line of the purple 88 and green 10.

I decided to add alittle more green to the border of green and purple. This time it was green 39.

I used a kajal liner in black on the top and bottom waterlines, and added mascara.

I took some black 114 and green 39 on a pencil brush and placed that on the lower lash line. Then I also blended the purple some more...

I added crazy lashes...

... that I wore for Halloween (I was Morticia Addams), but this time they had gone bad, and refused to function properly, so I threw them out after I took the pictures... Also the glue wasn't good anymore. Those two reasons are why the lashes look all weird, cause I didn't manage to place them properly.
Definitely not using that glue anymore... or this brand lashes... I want more than 1.5 uses out of them.

Finished look!

Thoughts?

Guess what my boyfriend said about this? He came home and said that "I'm going to say this now so that you believe me later, you've looked prettier." I didn't expect him to ask me to do my makeup like this every day, but I didn't expect what he said. Then  a while later before going to sleep he asked me if I got insulted by his words. I did and I didn't. You know? I don't expect him to say something about blending or something, but I expected something like "I like the colors" or something. He knows and I know I wont use makeup like this on a daily basis. This was for this blog for new years. I don't know. I can't remember what I felt that day, cause it was a while ago. I did this on like the last or the second last day of 2010...

The Basic 3-step Skincare Regimen

I'm back with a really joyful mood right now :)

Life at hometown is just perfectly relax and carefree without tests, papers and assignments.

Okay well, I'm gonna write something about my basic skincare products today. Talking about the basic skincare products, three things shouldn't be forgone are CLEANSER, TONER & MOISTURIZER. I used to exclude toner and moisturizer in my daily regime until I finally realise their importance. My skin was once the completely dry type in which it peeled everytime after I washed my face with a cleanser. This happened most frequently during high school because the long exposure to the sun would definitely make my skin peeled. I am a late starter which I only implement the complete CTM when I go to college. My mum, who ought to be my first teacher on this has never taught me the right skin care techniques. In fact, I was the one who insisted and told her that she must use a make up remover to remove her foundation and powder =X

Back on topic, let's start with the most basic skincare step : Cleanser. When making the purchase decision on cleanser, I will never consider those products which comes with SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate). It's a carcinogenic chemical that acts as an foaming agent which you can find inside the ingredients of many shampoos, detergents and soaps. We should avoid using cleanser with SLS because it will remove the skin natural protection barrier and causing it more prone to skin problems and sensitivity.

My top-rated cleanser: Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Face Wash

It was a gift from hunny boy which I had fallen in love with this product since the first time I tried it. This is one of the moisturizing care series of Hada Labo. One thing I love about this product is it is really mild and gently cleanses my skin after I used it. It leaves me a refreshed feel yet at the same time not declining the moisture level. Not to forget, it comes with white colour and it's smell-less. I love this kinda product which is free of fragrances and colorant that doesn't make me feel too "chemical" while using them >3

Hada Labo AHA/BHA cleanser

It seems like I'm the big fans of Hada Labo huh? Told ya, I really in love with face wash that make me feel natural and balanced. The philosophy of this cleanser is to exofoliate and remove dead skin cell to enhance the smoothness and delicateness of unshelled egg on our skin. I think Hada Labo products are suitable for sensitive skin because I can feel that they are really gentle skin care line that will not cause irritation. If you have dry skin like me, you should choose the previous Hada Labo cleanser that I have mentioned. However if you have normal skin that does not fall into dry / oily / combination skin, you can choose this one :)

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Mousse Cleanser

This is the first mousse cleanser that I have. I am definitely not repurchasing this cleanser anymore. At first, I found that it was fun and convenient to use because I did not need to create cleansing foam by my own. In fact, cream and gel cleanser always last longer than mousse cleanser because you'll definitely need more than one pump to clean your skin better. The price of this cleanser is around RM30 which I guess it wouldn't able to last for more than one month and a half if you're using it as your daily basis cleanser. Besides, it always leave me a soapy feel after using it which leads to an illusion that I don't clean my face thoroughly, so I'll still need to double cleanse. Never use this cleanser after you remove your make up, or else on your own head be it! :P

Etude House Happy Teatime Aloe Vera Cleansing Foam

I bought this cleanser with 30% off at around RM7 ++ only during the Etude House sales, absolutely cheap! I only use this cleanser once but I think it will be suitable to girls that like their face to be squeaky clean after the use of cleanser. You can also get your make up off with this cleanser. I personally find that it's actually a bit dry and tightening for my skin but I don't know whether it would be the same for you, so you can go get one in next Etude House sales. The package of Etude House Teatime cleanser range is so cute and it is not a heavily fragrance cleanser but comes with a little bit of tea scent.

Clinique 3-Step System

I got some Clinique 3-Step sample which included mild liquid soap, clarifying lotion 2 and moisturising cream in the sample box from the campus roadshow last Tuesday. I followed the three steps to complete my skin regime and I actually feel quite comforting using their product. It works pretty well on my skin and I felt supple and moisturized after the first time using it. It's just that this 3-step system smells like some awful chemical agent which really irritates my skin. I'm afraid that long-term exposure to this product may over sensitize my skin, so I guess I wouldn't want to try it again after the samples are finished =/

Clean & Clear foaming facial wash, Majiami oil control cleanser and Avene Cleanance series... Well, I still have quite a lot of cleanser samples that I never tried them out. Might write about them next time and here comes the toner :)

Beauty Credit Red Wine Pore Control

The bottle cap. Korean skin care products always appear very tempting and attractive which is one of the key selling point too.

Okay this is another gift from my boy after I fussed and grumbled to him that my enlarged pores were getting aggressive N times. This toner is said to be consisted of pore stretch essence that can shrink large pores and it smells like sweet wine. I am quite disappointed with the outcome as it doesn't as effective as what it promised. I realise that hydration and moisture retention are the best way to control my pores. I'm Miss-dry-skin afterall :(

Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Lotion

Oh it's Hada Labo again! This is their star item and one bottle sold every 4 seconds in Japan! WOW =O It's worthy of the Japan No.1 hydrating products. This product saves my skin from dehydration ♥♥♥ You would definitely to buy one if you're having dry skin troubles. I have never seen my T-zone flakes off again after using this product. I usually apply few drops on the cotton pad and patting the lotion evenly on my face. The patting motion must be at least twice time of your actual age which means that I'm 19 now, so I have to pat the lotion on my face at least 38 times. Heehee I learned this from Lady First / 女人我最大 :D

ZA Dewy Effect Emulsion

I bought this first bottle of my moisturizer months ago. This product would not leave you a greasy and sticky feel like other moisturizers did. After apply the moisturizer, I usually patting ang massaging my skin continuously to make it absorbed quickly. The amount I use each time is extremely less because it spread easily onto the skin, so it's considered as a cost-efficient product. I bet 100ml of this emulsion could last for at least 3 months for my daily usage.

As you can see, all products within my skin care range are below RM60 which is really the economic type for the type of poor students, like me. Low price doesn't mean low quality right? Hope this little review of mine could be helpful for you, especially careful budgeting ladies! :D

Korean vocalist WooYoung Jang

Born on April 30, 1989, Woo Young Jang is the vocalist and a member of the South Korean boy band, 2pm.
Wooyoung has the popular "Oval shaped face that most Korean idols have nowadays.
He's the type of guy that would always try out new things; such as new hairstyles. He has appeared in a super short haircut, which did not really fit him as much as a medium hairstyle. See it for yourself!
See? Doesn't Wooyoung look adorable in a medium hairstyle? Given that he has also dyed it light brown, it looks great!
Here's an older picture of Wooyoung's adorable medium length hairstyle.

jeNNie's Evolution

Hullo peeps, It's my very first post of the new year! :D

Alright I know new year is way over! It's the seventh day of 2011 naooooo. Time flies! Recently, I'm a student whose life is consist of assignment and midterm test only. Oh, the hectic life! I'll be having my last midterm test at Saturday but I really want to update this to-be-dead blog so much :)

So what's your biggest wish for 2011? Of course one of my wishes for the new year is to get prettier naturally! Well I guess that it just wouldn't come true if I still gaining weight like how I did last year :( I don't care, for me, delicacies are irresistible! BTW, I found my Friendster photo album weeks ago. It's fun when you glimpse back your past and memories through photos. I'm actually LOL when I looking at my photos taken in the past, but who knows maybe someday in the future I will also laugh at my appearance now?

I shall show you my evolution now. Please be kind and don't puke at my photos please :)

Okay first of all, THE MOST NOSTALGIC PHOTO OF MINE

ZOMG. I actually don't have eyebrows, do I? This was how I looked when I was Form One.
And I actually do not born with double-edged eyelid until one day it appeared naturally when I was in high school. I was a mummy's girl who wore what my Mom decided what clothes to be put on me until Form 3, so what I wore was based on my mum's preference. You know parent's taste is much more different from ours.

My mother loved to dress me like a typical little princess girl which I literally hated it. Okay not to this extent but more or less the same.

The specky girl during Form 2.

This photo was taken when I was Form 3 if I'm not mistaken. This was when I still wasn't aware of the powerful of cosmetic contact lens :P

Then I started learning how to wear contact lens. And now I couldn't live without it because my eyes would really look so listless without cosmetic contact lens.

This photo is totally unlike me. It was still Form 3 which my LALA style clothing life began. And I learned how to make up, yet in a terrible way. I was using pencil eyeliner that time which was the nightmare for me. Pencil eyeliner alwayyysss smudges and within a few hours my under eyes would be covered in black smudge which I still like how I look so much during last time LOL

This was me when I was Form 4. I was a LALA. To see better illustration you can refer to the photos below.
P.S. I obscure all the others' face in my photos to avoid any inconveniences :)

Black leggings. Dress colourfully. It was a trend during my adolescence.
Every teen girl @City Square dressed like they couldn't hang out without black leggings, seriously!

This was my high school uniform's look when I was Form 5. I am not used to see my black hair now.

Spot me! :D

This was the time when I just finished my SPM. I was wearing a hair wig in this photo. I still love that hair wig but I wouldn't wear it anymore because it's so incovenient and stuffy when wearing it. Also, I did not PS my photos, and of course not manually enlarging my pupils.

I am wearing Super King Black series since Form 5 and it's really the most powerful contact lens I have ever seen.
It really enlarge my eyes and make them jet-black and sparkling >3

Here comes another holy nightmare of me. This was done before 2010 CNY. I really had no idea how the hair stylist could turn my hair like this. It was totally different with what I told him to do.

I want wavy curls like this, but somehow it turned up to be...

THIS!!! So 蒋小花 (Rainy Yang's character with no sense of style in Miss No Good)

My driving license photo reminds me with Foong's curly hair now LOL

Guess that I really changed alot.

In fact, I'm not the only one with drastic changes too.

Now, who's this crew cut stupid fellow? That's how he looked like during Form 5.

And this Vietnamese / Indonesian foreign worker?

LEEKEEWEE he is!

Changed alot huh? :)

I wouldn't love my bf too if he was still the buruh asing who wore an old-fashioned rimless glasses .
I bet he wouldn't fall for the the "old me" too LOL

That's all. Have a nice day :)
