Before & After Makeup. So What?

Hello lovely readers! Finally I'm back to the blogosphere after the MIA for one week. All the midterm exams are finally over, but there will still be assignment deadlines, presentations and final exam ahead. They say time flies when you're on the run. 2011 is going to end real soon in two days' time and 2012 is approaching closer and closer. Happy new year in advance? LOL. Seriously I don't know how to start my blog post with a bang. Kinda lack of ideas and creativity to blog now because I start feeling sleepy in this chilly weather...

So, let's get straight to the point? ;)

Yours truly. Before and after.

This entry is inspired by Ling Luan NiNi (灵鸾妮妮), the famous Weibo & Tao Bao make up artist from China. If you don't know about her, you can see her amazing make up skill here:

I have been noticing people sharing her makeup tutorial photos on Facebook. Most of them are amazed at how different she looks before and after makeup. However, there are also quite a lot of offensive comments, especially from guys. For example...

"OMG girls are so fake nowadays!"

What's wrong with you guys? Is there anything wrong if she only look attractive after putting on makeup?!

" *Tag his girlfriend's name here* Please don't be like her! So scary!"

WHAT??? SCARY??? If there is no difference before and after, then WHAT IS THE POINT FOR WOMEN TO MAKEUP?!

"This is why makeup should be banned!"

WTF?! This comment totally sums up the attitude towards women with makeup from an extremist.

Guys, if you are looking for girls with flawless complexion, innocent eyes and naturally soft pink lips without wearing any makeup or cosmetic circle lens, I suggest that perhaps you should go back to your kindergarten? For those girls who are naturally good looking, the physical beauty is a gift of God to them. However, I believe that makeup is a gift from heaven to every woman. Not every woman can look glamorous without make up. If it's a norm for short girls wearing heels to make themselves look taller, then why not for those who makeup to make themselves look better?

Inspiring by Ling Luan NiNi's "Forever 18 Girly Younger Look' makeup tutorial which you can refer here, I have done a much simpler makeup tutorial for this entry. Hope this entry will be a useful tip for the beginners! :)

Me in the morning with messy and frizzy hair + nerdy look w/o cosmetic lens -____-
And makeup-free face with awful acne scars which I hate hate hate hate hate it!

First of all, the basics:

Products used: ZA Power Block UV Sunscreen, Beauty Credit Lovely Green Tea BB Cream,
ZA concealer & KATE Shimmer Loose Powder

After applying sunscreen and with Barbie lens on.

Apply this small amount of BB cream evenly on each side of the cheek.

Most of the time, I use my fingers to apply makeup because I don't have any makeup brushes.

Apply several dots of concealer on the dark eyes circles, nose wings & lip corners. NEVER RUB the concealer, ALWAYS TAP it on the necessary areas. I always fail to squeeze the concealer for the right amount, so I will apply those excessive concealer on my acne scars as well.

Loose powder is a MUST after foundation / BB cream because it set the makeup by reducing shine on the face and giving a matte finish look. I always twist and dab the powder puff as shown in the picture above to remove the excess powder on the puff.

Press the powder slowly and gently on the face.

CANMAKE Cheek & Cheek #01 & #04

After applying the baby pink blush. Not looking obvious in the photo because of the lighting.

Not to forget, use the pearl glitter powder to highlight the nose bridge.
This will make your nose to look taller and more prominent.

Secondly, the eye makeup.

Products used: Eyelash curler, L'oreal Double Extension au Serum Re-activant,
Fasio Power Stay Mascara & KATE reflect mirror eye shadow

I am using KATE dark brown eye shadow to draw my eyeliner with uplifted corner at the edge.

Suddenly comes out the idea with this GIF when sorting the photos :P

Highlight the inner corner of my eyes with KATE glittery pink palette but the colour looks more like silver white glitter.

Curl the lashes. Hold the curler upright for around 10 seconds.
Rub the fingertips and cover it over the lashes to create a warm 'perming' effect.

After curling the lashes, use the serum re-activant on the left side of L'oreal Double Extension Mascara to extend your lashes longer.

Using my favourite Fasio Power Stay mascara in this pic. It's been the only mascara that doesn't clump and smudge so far, if compared to other brands I've used before such as L'oreal Double Extension mascara and Maybelline Volume Express.

Transparent root falsies are highly recommended as it look much more natural than normal falsies.
I usually trim the fake lash into half as shown in the picture above.

Stick the partial lashes on the outer corner of the eyelids.
I personally think that it looks better than sticking full set of the lashes.

The result:

Lastly, the lips.

I'm using Maybelline Cranberry Jam lip balm for this entry. I have never used lip gloss as I really hate its sticky texture.
Alternatively, you can choose lipstick for a longer lasting colour on your lips.

The final outcome

I curled the lower end of my hair in this pic. No more messy auntie hairstyle :P

Before & after. Hope you will like both version of me? ;)

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

XOXO

Spring Festival 2011

Hello! :)
It's a bittersweet February for me.
I'm happy because now I'm one step closer to the CNY! :D
Yet, I'm also gloomy because final exam will be one step closer to me :(
Arghhh I just don't wish to remind myself with a single thing related with final exam! It's impossible for me to have fun while study or study and have fun. More and more people choose to spend their holiday time to go travelling during CNY. However for my CNY, as usual, it will be my time for family reunions, and for visting friends and relatives. I usually stay at my own house most of the time. I guess this year it might be even less outdoor activities for me because the weather recently has been extremely cold and rainy. I don't gamble too, so I guess my CNY 2011 will have lesser fun than previous year. Probably I will just spend my time for revision? OMG sounds so pathetic =/

ZA, O'slee, Neutrogena, Maybelline, Biore, Hada Labo, Beauty Labo, L'oreal, Schwarzkopf, Beautymate, My Beauty Diary...

I spent too much money recently but I don't care because excessive spending should be allowed in this auspicious holiday :P There's only one thing that can make me happier, that is thinking about all the new clothes, accessories and beauty care products that I have bought! Drugstores such as Watson and Guardian are my favourite beauty care shopping spot.

I'm broke but I'm happy ;) Anyway it's time to cut my expenses now to save money for the Kuching trip later.

Lastly,

Have a happy CNY! Wish you happiness and prosperity.
May the sun shines again after the rain especially at those serious flooding areas around Malaysia.
p.s. Ang Pow here I come!!! :D

The Basic 3-step Skincare Regimen

I'm back with a really joyful mood right now :)

Life at hometown is just perfectly relax and carefree without tests, papers and assignments.

Okay well, I'm gonna write something about my basic skincare products today. Talking about the basic skincare products, three things shouldn't be forgone are CLEANSER, TONER & MOISTURIZER. I used to exclude toner and moisturizer in my daily regime until I finally realise their importance. My skin was once the completely dry type in which it peeled everytime after I washed my face with a cleanser. This happened most frequently during high school because the long exposure to the sun would definitely make my skin peeled. I am a late starter which I only implement the complete CTM when I go to college. My mum, who ought to be my first teacher on this has never taught me the right skin care techniques. In fact, I was the one who insisted and told her that she must use a make up remover to remove her foundation and powder =X

Back on topic, let's start with the most basic skincare step : Cleanser. When making the purchase decision on cleanser, I will never consider those products which comes with SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate). It's a carcinogenic chemical that acts as an foaming agent which you can find inside the ingredients of many shampoos, detergents and soaps. We should avoid using cleanser with SLS because it will remove the skin natural protection barrier and causing it more prone to skin problems and sensitivity.

My top-rated cleanser: Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Face Wash

It was a gift from hunny boy which I had fallen in love with this product since the first time I tried it. This is one of the moisturizing care series of Hada Labo. One thing I love about this product is it is really mild and gently cleanses my skin after I used it. It leaves me a refreshed feel yet at the same time not declining the moisture level. Not to forget, it comes with white colour and it's smell-less. I love this kinda product which is free of fragrances and colorant that doesn't make me feel too "chemical" while using them >3

Hada Labo AHA/BHA cleanser

It seems like I'm the big fans of Hada Labo huh? Told ya, I really in love with face wash that make me feel natural and balanced. The philosophy of this cleanser is to exofoliate and remove dead skin cell to enhance the smoothness and delicateness of unshelled egg on our skin. I think Hada Labo products are suitable for sensitive skin because I can feel that they are really gentle skin care line that will not cause irritation. If you have dry skin like me, you should choose the previous Hada Labo cleanser that I have mentioned. However if you have normal skin that does not fall into dry / oily / combination skin, you can choose this one :)

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Mousse Cleanser

This is the first mousse cleanser that I have. I am definitely not repurchasing this cleanser anymore. At first, I found that it was fun and convenient to use because I did not need to create cleansing foam by my own. In fact, cream and gel cleanser always last longer than mousse cleanser because you'll definitely need more than one pump to clean your skin better. The price of this cleanser is around RM30 which I guess it wouldn't able to last for more than one month and a half if you're using it as your daily basis cleanser. Besides, it always leave me a soapy feel after using it which leads to an illusion that I don't clean my face thoroughly, so I'll still need to double cleanse. Never use this cleanser after you remove your make up, or else on your own head be it! :P

Etude House Happy Teatime Aloe Vera Cleansing Foam

I bought this cleanser with 30% off at around RM7 ++ only during the Etude House sales, absolutely cheap! I only use this cleanser once but I think it will be suitable to girls that like their face to be squeaky clean after the use of cleanser. You can also get your make up off with this cleanser. I personally find that it's actually a bit dry and tightening for my skin but I don't know whether it would be the same for you, so you can go get one in next Etude House sales. The package of Etude House Teatime cleanser range is so cute and it is not a heavily fragrance cleanser but comes with a little bit of tea scent.

Clinique 3-Step System

I got some Clinique 3-Step sample which included mild liquid soap, clarifying lotion 2 and moisturising cream in the sample box from the campus roadshow last Tuesday. I followed the three steps to complete my skin regime and I actually feel quite comforting using their product. It works pretty well on my skin and I felt supple and moisturized after the first time using it. It's just that this 3-step system smells like some awful chemical agent which really irritates my skin. I'm afraid that long-term exposure to this product may over sensitize my skin, so I guess I wouldn't want to try it again after the samples are finished =/

Clean & Clear foaming facial wash, Majiami oil control cleanser and Avene Cleanance series... Well, I still have quite a lot of cleanser samples that I never tried them out. Might write about them next time and here comes the toner :)

Beauty Credit Red Wine Pore Control

The bottle cap. Korean skin care products always appear very tempting and attractive which is one of the key selling point too.

Okay this is another gift from my boy after I fussed and grumbled to him that my enlarged pores were getting aggressive N times. This toner is said to be consisted of pore stretch essence that can shrink large pores and it smells like sweet wine. I am quite disappointed with the outcome as it doesn't as effective as what it promised. I realise that hydration and moisture retention are the best way to control my pores. I'm Miss-dry-skin afterall :(

Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Lotion

Oh it's Hada Labo again! This is their star item and one bottle sold every 4 seconds in Japan! WOW =O It's worthy of the Japan No.1 hydrating products. This product saves my skin from dehydration ♥♥♥ You would definitely to buy one if you're having dry skin troubles. I have never seen my T-zone flakes off again after using this product. I usually apply few drops on the cotton pad and patting the lotion evenly on my face. The patting motion must be at least twice time of your actual age which means that I'm 19 now, so I have to pat the lotion on my face at least 38 times. Heehee I learned this from Lady First / 女人我最大 :D

ZA Dewy Effect Emulsion

I bought this first bottle of my moisturizer months ago. This product would not leave you a greasy and sticky feel like other moisturizers did. After apply the moisturizer, I usually patting ang massaging my skin continuously to make it absorbed quickly. The amount I use each time is extremely less because it spread easily onto the skin, so it's considered as a cost-efficient product. I bet 100ml of this emulsion could last for at least 3 months for my daily usage.

As you can see, all products within my skin care range are below RM60 which is really the economic type for the type of poor students, like me. Low price doesn't mean low quality right? Hope this little review of mine could be helpful for you, especially careful budgeting ladies! :D

Liese Hair Care Product Review

Hello peeps! Guess what? I got the result for my final exam! And it's surprisingly the first class of CGPA! I was so anxious about my academic result of degree's first trimester until last Friday morning I checked it. I felt so blessed because I got a favourable result! I was so satisfied since I always pull all-nighter desperately cramming for test. In fact I hate myself of being like this. I guess I should not take it for granted and quit this behaviour for good. The lady luck just won't smile upon me everytime.

So here's the very short post of my experience using the Liese hair care product - Liese Juicy Shower & the Hair Cocktail Serum (Lite). Both of them topped my wish list since they were launched on the market and few months hence it became my birthday present >3

Left: Liese Hair Cocktail Moisturizing Hair Serum (Lite)
Right: Liese Juicy Shower

I had dampen this part of my hair and left another part remain dried. My hair is dry and frizzy from bleaching which I am so regret for.

The 1st one.

Before applying the cocktail serum, shake it gently to mix the nourishing water and anti-frizz oil. I poured a few drops of the emulsion on my palm and spreaded it evenly on my damp hair. It was peach-scented and I was amazed with it. It was exactly like the intro stated in their advertisement - It smoothened out all tangles instantly so you could comb or run fingers through easily. This product was still considered slightly greasy for me but it was really mild if compared with other hair care product. Unlike the other hair serum that I had used before, I could still feel their greasiness after I washed my hand with soap multiple times. But for liese hair cocktail serum, at least I still could wash it away easily and not feeling greasy afterall.

FYI, the difference between the Liese Hair Cocktail Lite & the Liese Hair Cocktail (in orange colour) is the former one is more suitable for extremely dry and damaged hair, so if you are just having some minor hair condition problem or hoping for some normal treatment you can choose the one which comes in orange colour.

Smell so nice, I like the peachy peachy :)

The first time ever I wish to lick my hair.

The 2nd.

The Liese Juicy Shower was totally out of my expectation. I had been researching on this product which said to be so nice-smelling and formulated with the Hair Beautifying Technology from Japan. I don't know why there's so much review on internet saying that it was so "sweet berry smelling" but the smell of this Juicy Shower only reminds me of chemical mixture. I guessed most of us was deceived by its berry cute and girly packaging. I made 2-3 sprays on my dry hair and it was actually quite pleasantly cool. One good thing that I found with the Juicy Shower was its convenience because I could just spray it on my hair instead of getting my palm becomes greasy with those gel-like product.

FYI, both the Liese Hair Cocktail Serum & Juicy Shower are selling at RM32. It can be found in the drugstore (either Guardian or Watson I forgot) and also Jusco. =)

p.s. Sorry for the MIA. The number of my unique visitors dropped drastically for this week (THOUGH IT WAS ALREADY SO LESS). Please don't leave me and I promise I will try my best to keep updating kay? ="(
