Know How to Remove the Ingrown Hair

The problem of ingrown hair is faced by most of the men and women. Since men shave everyday they face this problem with their facial skin.  Whereas women while they remove their unwanted hair from several parts of the skin, face this problem of ingrown hair. After the hair has grown inside the skin the main idea is to get rid of it. The question is how to deal with the problem of ingrown hair through an easy process.
The main idea is that we follow some simple and easy home remedies for the ingrown hair problem. The first step is to cleanse the skin with a mild cleanser so that the surface dirt is removed.  After the skin has been cleansed, there is a need to apply some heat to soften the area so that the ingrown hair is removed.
The heat is to be applied for almost five minutes so that the hair may come to surface easily. The next step is exfoliation. For mild exfoliation, use your fingers and work the fingertips in small circles around hair follicle to loosen debris and dead skin then rinse the area.
The removal of ingrown hair can be a little difficult because being harsh to the skin can cause harm to the skin at that area. Now the most important step is to remove the hair by holding the skin taut and ‘scraping’ cotton swab in the opposite direction of the ingrown hair, so that the hair comes out. If the hair is already removed there is no need to use a needle or tweezers, but remember if any of these instruments is to be used then they should be sanitized or sterilized.
Alcohol is the best sanitizer readily available for the sanitizing of the tweezers. After that, apply a small amount of hydrogen peroxide with a clean cotton ball or square to hair follicle and then Neosporin to ward off infection.
Special care should be taken while you dig the tweezers into the skin and remember prevention is always better than cure so look for ways to get rid of ingrown hair at the first place. Enjoy smooth, silky and hair-free skin!

Hairstyle Tips to Beat the Heat

Yet, due to heat, seat and frizz problems; it’s quite hard to maintain a good hairstyle and many women are confused about what is the most appropriate hairstylefor them in the summer season. But may it be any haircut or hairstyle; there are a few tips that can surely help you in maintaining a perfect and hassle freehairstyle throughout the summer season.
Tangle Out!
Due to heat, sweat gets concentrated on our scalp and it gets locked in hair. This is one of the major problems of a rough hairstyle and bad hair in summer season. Therefore, in order to maintain a good hairstyle and healthy hair, try to keep your hair as much tangle free insummer season as possible. Don’t over brush your hair but at least brush twice or thrice a day in order to keep your hair tangle free for any summer hair style that you wish to have.
The Natural Dry!
We all love to dry our hair with hair dryers once we are out of the shower. But in summer season, don’t make the hair dryer your favorite hair gadget whether you are going to have a casual or a formal hairstyle. Let the hair dry naturally or at the most, use your fingers to dry the hair. Drying hair with a hair dryer in summer season causes a loss of hair shine and a lot of frizz in hair.
Cut it Out!
In summer season, try to have a haircut at least once because it is very important for the health of your hair. The hair grows faster in summer and the chances of having split ends, dead hair etc are more. Therefore, a good haircut can give your hair a better shape and good health. Moreover, you will have advantage in maintaining any summer hairstyle if you have a good and a fresh haircut. And if you do not wish to have a proper haircut then at least go for trimming because it will certainly make a positive difference in your hair health and hairstyle.
Keep it Clean!
Washing your hair on every alternate day is just ideal in the summer season. Moreover, if you go for swimming or any other activity of the same sort then make sure you wash your hair thoroughly afterwards otherwise your hair can be a home to bacteria, bugs and they will get rough and unhealthy soon. Try to condition your hair at least once a month and make sure you are not lazy about it otherwise your hair will not be good enough for any hairstyle that you wish to have.
So, follow these simple summer hair care tips and enjoy the cool and trendy summer hairstyle that you are dying to have. Remember that hair is an important part of your personality and a good hairstyle adds a sparkle to your personality all of a sudden.

A Night Out + hair and makeup

On Saturday night we went out to dinner with 11 other people. Two had just graduated with their Bachelor's degrees so this was like a celebration dinner and a Christmas party in one.

We had a wonderful dinner in a restaurant which normally would be way too expensive for a student budget.

I wanted to do something special with my hair because I never do anything. I don't know how to do different hair styles well.

At the blogger meet up we were given a lot of hair products and today I tried the sweetest one: Tigi BedHead Totally Baked Volumizing and Prepping Hair Meringue. Oh my goodness it smells sweet!!! It's like lemon meringue. Yummy!

I put a small plum size dollop on my hand and applied it to towel dried hair. I blow dried my hair and used a round brush.

My hair is fine and there is usually hardly any volume.

I tried to take the front pieces of hair and braid them. Then I took a comb and backcombed in the crown area. I decided to do a side ponytail. I did the ponytail first, and then braided the front. I wanted to use the front part to conceal the hair tie, but that didn't work, so I had to do the ponytail again, this time with the braided front hair. And that's when I messed up more as my hair had no volume and the backcombing didn't work out. Sigh. Did I say I can't do hair??

I used some kind of a heat protectant that was also a shaper and then with a curling iron I got amazing curls for the first time in my life! They were perfect. I took this picture at the end of the night. The weather was horrible, rainy and horrible. The curls stayed for the most part, until the end when we left cause it was raining really heavily and I did not have an unbrella. . I added a ton of hair spray before we left from home.

I did my makeup with Wet n' Wild shadows.

First, I applied UDPP, then Painterly Paint pot by MAC. Then I used the matte skin colored color of the Vanity palette (leftmost palette) on the browbone area. I took the browbone color of the Petal Pusher palette (right) and applied that a little on my crease and above it, but so that it did not cover my whole browbone.

I applied the matte light pink from the Lust palette (middle) to the inner half, and then the crease color from the Petal Pusher palette to the outer half. I deepened that outer half by adding the darker purple from the Lust palette. I used the darkest purple from the Lust palette in the crease and outer V.

Picture do not do any justice to the makeup. It was darker than it looks here. I took these pictures after the night when we got home.

I added 2-3 extra lashes. They don't look like they would be in the right spot. First I put 1 coat of Estee Lauder's lengthening mascara, then two coats of Maybelline's Colossal volume mascara. Only Estee Lauder on the bottom lashes.

Both eyes.

I used Sensai's black liquid eyeliner, and then on the waterline MAC's Blacktrack fluidline.

I just noticed that my contacts makes it look like my eyes have rings on them. I don't remember that happening in pictures with my old contacts. These are new and they correct astigmatism. (And after a quick Wikipedia search, lenses that correct astigmatism are toric lenses, they have two different powers in two orientations.)

I got quite a few compliments on this makeup. I really like it too!

What do you do on a night out?

Vlog: How- To Loose Curls

Loose waves are everywhere and so easy to create and wear. One of the best features of this look is that it only gets better as your day goes on because, loose and messy is in and only adds to the glamour. I was inspired by the VS Fashion Show, and wanted to show you my best attempt at re-creating the look.

It's really simple, I curl it the same way as I did in this curling video, but focus on the middle section of my strands, leaving out differing ends from the curling iron. Also, the smaller curling iron you use, the larger section of hair you'll want to curl, and vice versa for a bigger curling iron (use a smaller section of hair).

What did you think? Are you going to try it out?

Vlog: How-To Donut Bun

Many of you emailed me after my hair donut review on how to use it, so I thought I'd post a video for you ladies. It's seriously so easy!

Wow. I love how Vimeo chooses the most flattering screen shots as the opening.

Like I said in the video, this bun is half-assed so it's not the best outcome. Plus, I didn't even notice the gigantic loose side I have going on until later. Oops.

One thing to note, is that I did this with fresh washed hair that had been straightened and I think it's easier with hair that's at least a day old and curled because your hair is easier to manipulate.

But, as you can see, the bun takes just a few minutes to create and there's a variety of looks and ways to wear it. I hope this video helps!

Any suggestions for future videos?

Galna Dagar Haul

I went shopping at Galna Dagar, which is a sale in a department store chain here, and the sale runs from Wednesday to Sunday. It still continues for two days, but I went there during the first two days and I'm not going anymore. It's way too packed with people. Galna Dagar is the Swedish name for the sale, it means Crazy Days. As I live in a country where there are two official languages, the sales have two names, one in both languages.

I bought several things. I'll show them to you. I can do individual posts, reviews of them if you'd like. I haven't tested these yet that much as I got them two days/one day ago.

Bonacure hair therapy oil miracle by Schwartzkopf. Used it once so far.

A set by Estee Lauder. It has an eyemakeup remover (30 ml), a mascara (Double Wear, zero smudge lengthening mascara) and an eyecream (Advanced Night Repair Eye, silly name).

I have used the mascara twice. The packaging of that is horribly 90's, I feel. It's something that a 50-year old woman would have kept in their drawer since the 90's. The eye cream smells like some alcohol. It's very odd. I can't figure out exactly what it smells like. The eye makeup remover works wonderfully!

I'm not a big perfume person. Until now I only had one full size perfume, and I rarely used it. I now found one that I really, really like. It is I love love by Moschino. I love the fresh, clean citrus scent it has. That type of scents are definitely me.

I also got the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream starter kit. .It has a 30 ml hand lotion, 15 ml kin treatment (The 8 hour cream), and 15 ml daily moisturizer with SPF 15.

The skin treatment works wonderfully on dry patches.

On the second day I went there again and then bought the item I really wanted to get. Sensai's refillable liquid eyeliner in black.

I swatched it on my hand, but that didn't turn out well in a picture. So I took a picture of my makeup that I have on right now. I used this eyeliner. You can get the most thinnest line with this! It's amazingly thin if you want a thin line. And it's really precise too, right on the lash line.

Urban Decay's Naked -palette. Virgin, Sin, Naked, and Smog.

Then I bought Aussie's 3 Minute Miracle hair treatment. I used it today. I still have the scent in my hair. That never happens. Normal shampoo/hair conditioner scents do not stay in my hair at all. This does. And so did the Sunsilk hair mask that I used last week. Now my hair is ridiculously silky and smooth... I might have to start using hair masks more often. ;)

Like I said, I have used this only once. In the shower. Of course. But I didn't expect this to happen...

My hair looks like this now. It is dry, and annoyingly some hair has broken, so that there are those little hairs sticking up all the way. You can click on the pictures if you want to see what I mean. I don't really know how to explain it.

I rarely use heat on my hair. I probably use a blow drier once a month, if even that often, and then I do use a heat protectant. I do not straighten my hair.. I mean what's the point if my hair is already that straight and I have only combed through it to take pictures? Maybe straightening could help the too-short hair that are clearly visible in the picture on the right. I don't own a straightener, but I have been interested in one. I just don't know if I'd actually use it. What do you think?

Have you tried any of these products?

Urtekram Brown Sugar Shampoo

When I started typing this post I was excited I had found something I had been trying to find for years! That is a Sodium Laureth Sulfate free shampoo. I thought I found it. I was so sure. Once I started reading the INCI more closely at home and writing the end of this post I noticed my mistake. I must have been in a hurry in the store because I totally didn't see it before. And I am quite sure I read the whole INCI list completely. But I didn't register everything... So first I was very excited. Then hugely disappointed. The beginning of this blog post is written when I thought I found SLS free shampoo... the tone starts to change in the middle. I had written all this, and did not feel like changing the entire blog post. So there you go. From happiness to sadness. In one blog post.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Years ago I heard the shampoos containing SLS, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, aren't good for you. I started searching those from normal stores. I wasn't too scared of SLS to completely stop using shampoos that contained it, so I wasn't ready to order them online or find special stores that sell them. That being said, did I find shampoos that would not contain SLS? No, I did not.

It all changed last Sunday. I found it! 250 ml and it cost 4,70€ in Citymarket.

They had two, one was Aloe Vera, I think, I might be mistaken. The one that I got was Brown Sugar. I had recently bought hair conditioner so I didn't get that. The price is more than what I'd normally pay and my boyfriend said that eventhough it does cost quite much, but because it's Fairtrade, he's all for it.

Urtekram Brown Sugar Shampoo is a Fairtrade product, it's Ecocert certified and they do not test on animals. Those are the things that the package says. The company is registered in Denmark.

It has a lot of text in different languages. In English it says:

"GB Shampoo with cane sugar. Nourishes your hair and gives it extra volume.
Water, aloe vera*, cane sugar*¤ (28%), coconut and corn sugar soap, vegetable glycerine, levulinic acid, anisic acid, citric acid, essential lavender*, and eucalyptus* oil. Nothing else. *=Organic farming, ¤=Fairtrade certified. Best used before the end of: See imprint."

Best before was 09 2013
More English text... "100% of the total ingredients are from natural origin. 15% of the total ingredients are from Organic Farming. Natural and Organic Cosmetics certified by ECOCERT Greenlife according to ECOCERT Standard available at http://cosmetics.ecocert.com"

I have only used this a few times now. The smell is very nice. It's not a strong smell, and it doesn't stay in your hair, which I like kind of. I don't really like to smell like anything.. :D

It washes my hair well. I'm not sure if it creates a huge amount of foam, because I haven't opened my eyes in the shower yet while I've been using this. :D My boyfriend says it foams, but not as much as "normal" shampoo.

My hair definitely needs hair conditioner afterwards, but that is nothing new. Right after rinsing my hair feels clean and my scalp feels clean too.

Okay, now as I was typing this, I noticed the INCI says Sodium coco-sulfate. Baaah I got excited too soon... I must have read the list too quickly in the store... How stupid! I got excited for nothing.

By googling Sodium Coco-sulfate I found plenty of texts. The main thing they were saying is that they're the one and same product. Both are derived from coconut oil, but the way they are purified is different. They are also saying that SCS is better than sodium laureth sulfate. It is added to create foam, which people believe makes the shampoo work as a hair cleaning product. In fact, once there is foam, your hair is already clean and ready to be rinsed. The foam does nothing.

INCI: Aqua, aloe barbadensis gel*, saccharum officinarum powder*¤, cocamidopropyl betaine, coco-glucoside, sodium coco-sulfate, glycerin, sodium cocoyl glutamate, levulinic acid, p-anisic acid, citric acid, lavandula angustifolia oil*, eucalyptus globulus oil*, geraniol^, limonene^, linalool^. (*= from Organic Farming, ^=essential oil, ¤= fairtrade certified)

A mix of all things...

In July I spent 3 weeks in Brighton, UK. I flew there without any shampoo or hair conditioner so that was the first thing on my shopping list. I was planning on leaving these there behind me, but I couldn't resist taking them back home cause they were so lovely!

Anything even minutely flavored with citrus scents gets me every time. I love citrus scents!

I got the Alberto Balsam shampoo and hair conditioner for normal/dry hair. It was mandarin flavored (and papaya).

These are 400ml bottles, so quite big, but they were a little cheaper compared to prices over here I think. Can't remember the exact price though. :( I got these from Superdrug.

Here's where it gets interesting! I always remember complaining on how I run out of shampoo long before hair conditioner... After using these products for about 5 weeks (left these home when I went on my central europe trip) I've used a whole lot more of hair conditioner than shampoo! Okay, in England I didn't have any shower gel with me, so when I shaved my legs I used hair conditioner instead of shower gel, but I didn't use it that much.

I drew the lines in the picture above to really show the difference!

My hair smells so, so nice and it's really soft too! I only shampoo the roots and put hair conditioner only in the ends, or well I make a ponytail with my hands and then put the hair conditioner to that part of hair.

This is yesterday's eye of the day...

Amazing quality makeup I must say! I went to football (soccer) practice yesterday with this on cause I didn't feel like removing my makeup before, and everything stayed in place. Nothing moved. I've practiced and competed with makeup on, and this brand still keeps wowing me after all these years. Let me say that our practices aren't exactly light, you sweat a whole lot, and still makeup stayed on perfectly. :D
